Project Description

Perthshire, Scotland

Modernised Living And Traditional Style

A SUBSTANTIAL NEW FARM house designed in the vernacular style for a rural Perthshire setting. MWP architects obtained planning permission for the demolition of an existing farmhouse and its replacement with a larger new house. The site formed part of an established farm and the Clients had a clear vision that the replacement house should relate to the working farm whilst providing modern comforts and generous space for entertaining. The property incorporates an internal covered atrium with a staircase and gallery which is flooded with light from the cupula above. Open
fireplaces are incorporated into the house design as is a splendid Victorian style conservatory. Following the local tradition, the farmhouse is finished in traditional render with stone detailing.
