NEWBIGGING STEADING 4 NEW HOUSES
This project was carried out on behalf of a developer who purchased a range of redundant farm buildings in rural Perthshire. The farm buildings comprised a mixture of traditional sandstone steadings & more recent steel framed & corrugated iron clad extensions. Following an assessment of the existing buildings MWP proposed a programme of selected demolition and retention to provide the basis for 4 new houses & enclosed parking court. Whilst the front elevations of the houses utilised the existing stone walls & openings the rear of the properties were new which allowed for the introduction of large glazed windows to make most of the view & the private back gardens. Due to the rural location, the lack of main sewerage & the extremely low porosity of the clay ground, a new above ground sewage treatment system had to be created.
